Hockey tournament gets
police attention off the ice
A hockey tournament in Sioux Lookout had more action off the ice than on.
The all-bands event was held between March 12 and March 18. Officials with the OPP say officers responded to nearly 300 calls during those dates.
Eight of those 300 calls were assaults.
Police say 233 arrests were made on various liquor-related charges.
There were also more than 150 tickets handed out for driving infractions.
Police say the illegal activity observed by officers this year was similar to what the force had to deal with during the same event last year.
