Vote Jim Gamble for Mayor of Thunder Bay on October 22nd, 2018

An "Our Kids Count Event in Council Chambers" that I popped into.

Jamie from DILICO and myself...she saved me from the rain this day.!

Chanel is a basically homeless in Thunder Bay resident that I met quite a while ago while campaigning in the south ward of the city, I have often seen her outside of the Dollar store at Centennial Square with a cardboard sign asking those who pass her buy to donate some loose change in order for her to be able to purchase food for herself and her boyfriend to consume. I have actually re-written her sign in order to provide a much better message about her situation in the hope of my changing it will be for her betterment. I am seeing more and more of this type of thing in the city during the past year. As of the last count approximately 3 months ago the city as recorded by TBDH has just under 500 people considered as being homeless and we also have another 1,000 individuals according to the management individual at TBDH with whom I received the number of 1,000 people on a affordable housing list 1 1/2 months ago when I called TBDH seeking the information as noted above.

I have been attempting to find her a much safer & much better place to "LIVE"
other than the "Odd Fellows Building" on May Street where she currently resides.

I took my mother Pre-BIRTHDAY shopping at Nygards...the staff were marvelous with helping my mother that day...and it was there that I also met my dear friend "Sergio Verardo`s daughter ``Lucia Verardo`as well.

uncle Rick Hutton a few days ago.

I was in the Delaney arena looking to find out what ever happened to the `Fort William Redskins football team photo and plaque that at one time were hanging on the wall leading down to the dressing rooms...long story short,
I found out where it is being stored and have been reassured by
Larry Hebert that they will be hung back up where they belong.

In this photo is my childhood friend Gary O`Leary who has one
more year to work for the city and then it's retirement time.!

This is `Benny `who was my son Taylor best friend in grade school.

Italian Festa in the northward of thunder Bay.

This group photo was taken at `GRACE PLACE`when they were

celebrating their 11th birthday at the Simpson Street location.

There were over 500 meals served that day.

I had the pleasure of helping my friend Ashlee Dawn and her cleanup crew
from the group named The Real Concerned Citizens of Thunder Bay.

WOW...this is my great friend Orila who used to work at Avenor Inc. in the garage,
it's been many years since I last saw him...he snuck up on me while
I was at the Virgin Mobile kiosk at Intercity Mall.

"NIGHTMARE-Story"- At our Thunder Bay District Regional Health Sciences Center

Good morning Thunder Bay...well I promised a good friend with who I met and had coffee with this morning...to tell of his family's nightmare of a situation regarding his 98 year old mother`s experience at our Regional Hospital the other day as she arrived by ambulance from her home after she had taken a fall.

Well it was at 5:30 pm that she arrived in the ambulance bay at our regional hospital and there she lay in the back of the vehicle for 1 and a half hours until the staff could clear a space for her within the emergency department that was curtained off.!

After waiting for a while she was examined by a physician and then was sent for an x-ray and it was determined that she had badly broken her hip.

In conclusion: There was ``NO ROOM`` at the Inn when this 98 year old woman needed it most...the hallways were overflowing with people. So what's next will the staff be forced to start using the parking lots next here in Thunder Bay.

THUNDER BAY -- Angry Torontonians, irritated politicians and biased journalists – all frustrated with Bombardier, I get it. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t speak up and defend the 1,100 dedicated men and women in Thunder Bay as they work tirelessly to deliver quality streetcars. Yes, we had difficult times, but, we have turned around.

The consistent scrutiny and company bashing doesn’t just impact business, it impacts workers and their families, their communities, local suppliers, as well as, the entire ecosystem in this province. I wonder how many Ontarians are aware of the consequences around such a negative singled out narrative.

In the last decades, we produced more than 1,000 passenger rail cars in Thunder Bay for Ontarians, by Ontarians: like the TTC Rocket and the Go Transit Bi Level cars – of which close to 1.5 million Ontarians rely on for their daily commute.

Ostracizing the company will not help the province in the long run. It is time to step back and take a moment to get to know Bombardier, its proud workforce and how it makes a difference in Ontario.

THUNDER BAY -- Police are investigating the theft of a dozen parking meters

THUNDER BAY -- Police are investigating the theft of a dozen parking meters taken from both the north and south cores and this is just now being reported by our local media on Thursday, August 2nd, 2018.

The 12 meters were completely removed from their locations at some point last month, the Thunder Bay Police Service said in a Thursday afternoon news release on Thursday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Jonathan Paske, the city's acting manager of licensing and enforcement, said the parking authority has an inventory of replacement parts and meters and does not anticipate any additional costs as a result of the thefts.

And thanks to Ashlee Dawn and her volunteers for inviting me along to help out cleaning up the Junot street park on Tuesday of last week.

Jim Gamble for the Mayor of Thunder Bay, Ontario in 2018

Why have I decided to run in this falls municipal election for the next Mayor of Thunder Bay...I am disturbed, frustrated and greatly disappointed as well perturbed as to what the city has become as a whole in the last 20 year time period as compared to what it was in 1998 and how life was growing up in the 50's, the 60's, the 70's the 80's and in the 90's for example.

My goal is to be the ``VOICE`` of both reason and common sense for the people of our city...The Driving Force ``NO MATTER THE LONG HOURS WHICH I AM EXPECTING TO BE SPENDING ON TURNING THE CITY'S FUTURE AROUND`` to one that will enhance and benefit everyone...``NO MATTER YOUR SOCIAL STATUS``.!

Our NEED is to have SHARED VALUES and GOALS.!

My ability to ``ACHIEVE`` positive net results by working in cooperation with others, by finding the SOLUTIONS to what is drawing such negative press from outside of our city and why are ranking as being a great place to live and work and play is so very terribly low. The city is ranked 233rd on a list of 415 communities across the country.

It's my MISSION to channel my business acumen, my work and life experience, my energy and my focus, my time spent in the promotion and participation in a great many of our city's charitable events throughout the years which I have either sponsored, participated in and finally promoted. as well of that of the elected city council members and our city manager and all department managers to collectively apply to the highest degree possible ``LOGIC and COMMON SENSE`` in each and every decision made by the collective city council and administration with regards to ``YOUR`` city on a daily basis on any and ``ALL`` issues no matter their size or complexity. As an example, as our lives experience should have taught each and everyone of us that a small issue in one person's life or view will seem as not a priority issue...which in fact looking at the city's most controversial or high priority issues would be true...yet it does need to be addressed to the satisfaction of that particular resident regardless.

With that said...I truly believe through personal past experience with communicating with now retired department city managers such as Darrell Matson, Tim Commisso, Dwight Gessie as well our city's current General Manager of Development & Emergency Service Mark Smith that as a true team player which any and all can and will confirm that to be actual fact, I can and will give my all to create the city which we all want at the end of the day. I am wanting to share my C.V. with any and everyone...which includes reference letters from people that I have interacted during my lifetime in the city on many different fronts...I want `YOU THE VOTING PUBLIC TO ACCESS MY INFORMATION`` by simply asking myself for it.! I wish for you to speak with these people who are supporting myself...I want you to get to know the man on a personal level...

I strongly will initiate and promote in addition to the existing programs in place to enhance our city's civic pride through proactive community engagement of citizens and business by using certain businesses as prime examples to use as a measuring stick.

I will tirelessly work for you and fight to create the following:

.A prosperous, vibrant economy...where we can all live in harmony and a city where our children and their children do not have to move away from in order to seek work with a livable wage where they can afford to purchase a home and raise their children and have the funds available to send them onto achieving higher educations.

.A community free from the effects of poverty and drug abuse and all the ills that come with it.

.A safe and walkable city regardless of the time of day as we once all knew and had.

.A city of yesteryears less the high amount of crimes of all kinds and plenty of good paying long term jobs where one can plan to retire from.

.A city where we spend your tax dollars on our "NEEDS not our WANTS" and where we "Do Not" tax the residents to death.

.A city where we can all truly be "Proud to call Home" and that others will want to come and live and play and prosper and raise a family and spend their entire lives here.

Research, develop, implement and evaluate best practices in our existing city wide long-term care facilities and the greater need for such facilities and beds for us (myself) the BABY BOOMERS...(which by the way I have been attempting to do by being in communication back in the days of Dalton McGuinty, Deb Matthews, George Smitherman and Tony Clement in the past prior to my attempting to address the issue of the Baby Boomers future needs in the city.

In summary, I see it that businesses provide a service or a product that is missing in a local area or region and when that product or service is offered and there is demand - then this bring up the quality of life for people around that area and keeps them there vs. travelling to another area. And Yes, business must be held accountable to the city in order for the business to not leave the taxpayers "holding the bag" which a strong council will implement. If the city ran from more of a business mindset and respected its citizens tax dollars, meaning the city would make sure all contracts and services were provided on a timely basis with "REAL" quality controls - then the city would not have to be re-fixing everything as they do so often. Businesses generally do things to for the long term to save money. The city should also make responsible investment in infrastructure and services for the long term so that in the end all the citizens of the city will save on taxes, with a more competitive tax base - the city has a chance to grow and attract new outside businesses and this will allow everyone to grow.

"Doug Ford and his government" has done this without any consultation whatsoever or forethought...he is turning out to be a hacker and a slasher of must needed programs to help the poor...and now I hear that he is also going to be making "HUGE"...cutbacks next on the must needed funding for individuals with "Mental Health Issues" who have addictions to drugs and alcohol.

Many who are in desperate need of immediate assistance/help.!

TORONTO -- Ontario's new Progressive Conservative government ushered in the first of what it promised would be major reforms to social assistance on Tuesday, reducing a planned increase in support rates and cancelling a pilot program that provided payments to low-income people in certain communities.

In an afternoon news conference, Social Services Minister Lisa MacLeod said the government would come up with a plan within 100 days to overhaul the "disjointed patchwork system" left by the previous Liberal regime.

The Liberals, she said, spent money the province didn't have on "handouts that actually do little if anything to break the cycle of poverty."
