To: The Honourable Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario
Legislative Building, Queen's Park
Toronto, Ontario, Canada M7A 1A1
Subject: Your call for the prorogation of the Ontario legislature.
Dear Dalton,
As a very concerned resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario as well having lived and worked all my life to date in our province, I find it most disturbing and a total disruption to each and every person, business owner who live, work and provide employment in order to provide all the services and benefits of living free in a democratic society. Well it seems to most I have spoken with, are of the opinion that you alone have brought the democratic process here in "ONTARIO" to a screeching halt by your recent actions and current mind set.!
I would like to let you know that my decision to compose this letter to you was prompted today in a by chance crossing of paths of myself and Ms. Sarah Campbell M.P.P. For Kenora-Rainy River today in Thunder Bay. It was during our conversation and learning of her reason for being in the city, that at the end of our speaking with one another I told Ms. Campbell that I was indeed going to write to you, as I have done in the past on many an occasion. With that said, in turn Ms. Campbell asked if I could C.c. her on my email/letter to you, I stated certainly that would not be a problem at all.
Wishing that the circumstances for this letter would be much different than they actually are and that without any doubt you will find my letter to be extremely condescending in nature, highly critical of you and your administration especially when it comes down to you blaming the opposition for creating a legislative stalemate, which in turn lead you too make the decision to call for a prorogation at Queen's Park.
I find your quote/statement of  “My job is to figure out when the water’s getting a little too rough, to blow the whistle and say, ‘all right, everybody out of the pool,’” off the wall for lack of a better description, seriously where in the world did you come up with this scenario I ask.? Please tell me that you cannot be serious, is this your way of attempting to lighten the ill effects of your actions on all who reside in this province.?
Your government’s decision to shut down the legislature means all Ontario residents have been left with a government out-of-control that has been put on "autopilot," is this what you refer to being a proficient and progressive leader?..are you proud of this style of representing the public who put you in office.!
The reasoning in which you defend this decision to prorogue the legislature, "saying the controversial move gave the government crucial time to sign new contracts with unions and work on breaking the deadlock at Queen’s Park"...is oh so very weak in my honest opinion. I believe you have allowed your ego to take over what ever powers of deductive reasoning you may have once had. I would have thought that when you rallied your troops to aid you in coming up with a logical reason for your actions, they could have done far better than this turkey of an excuse.
I offer up this scenario as being a major part of your deciding to prorogue, this is nothing short of  an attempt to sidestep the ever growing scandals facing you and your government, plain and simple, keeping in  mind some of your past larger "Faux-Pas"  or as I like to call them...."FacePalm Moments"such as the infamous and shining example of the  'E-Health Fiasco" being a prime example of your not keeping, your finger on the pulse of Ontario, as part of your obligation and mandate to the residents and business owners, this with out doubt was an "EPIC FAIL" on your part.
So it appears that you intend to repeat history with this call to prorogue, is that your real goal or are you simply the type of individual who, when they see light at the end of the tunnel, go out and buy some more tunnel.
With your actions, I have come to the conclusion that politics is too serious a matter to be left to the politicians, it was always my feeling that a  politician is a fellow who will lay down your life for his country and its people, you however do not fit the bill in this case unfortunately. It has often been said, one of the penalties of not participating in politics is that you will be governed by your inferiors, you sir are lending a whole lot of credence to that statement with your actions of late in my opinion. Do you really want your legacy to be that of the Canadian poster boy for "Political Aphorisms" that have yet to be written.?
I must comment as well...your government has said it will cost taxpayers $230-million to cancel the two gas plants projects, the legislature’s finance committee has been blocked for several months at getting answers about the true cost to taxpayers for canceling the gas plants....I personally have suspicions that the true cost will be much higher, if the truth be told.! Keeping in mind Mr. McGuinty that the "TRUTH" is not supposed to have an "AGENDA" of any kind....that sir is your ultimate mandate to everyone in this province, this does not seems to be the case in point with you and your government what so ever.
In closing, it is my hope that you will put aside what ever personal agenda you may have, re-think your decision over a few more times, play devils advocate if you will and come to the realization that this all serves no other purpose other than to serve yourself and your Liberal party, had you not locked the legislature, you and your  ministers would have had plenty to answer for. In feeling that you  had nowhere to go and  no other card to play, I firmly believe you have seriously under estimated how this was all going to play out at the end of the day, you now have an even larger mess to address. The public will eventually be learning all of the facts, for as I said previously in my letter, the "Truth should have no Agenda".!
The Legislature needs to be recalled now, I personally will always believe in the doctrine of res ipsa loquitur.!
Regards,
Jim Gamble
Thunder Bay, Ontario
