Police confirm the city's first murder of 2013 on the South Side.

The Criminal Investigations Branch of the T.B.P.S. is investigating the death of a male in the city's south side. Superior North EMS and Police responded to a 911 call regarding an injured male on the sidewalk at May and Violet Streets just before 5:30 p.m. today. Despites efforts of emergency responders, the male died at the scene. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Police have closed May Street between Victoria and Miles as a crime scene. This is a very active investigation and there is a significant police presence in the area of the incident. We ask that motorists avoid this area tonight.
